1. Multiple Leaks at Seams
If sectional gutters leak at multiple joints, sealing won't last. Time for seamless.
2. Sagging Despite Good Hangers
If gutters sag with new hangers, the fascia or gutter material is failing.
3. Visible Rust or Corrosion
Steel gutters with rust holes can't be permanently repaired. Replace with aluminum.
4. Gutters Pull Away from House
Usually means fascia damage. Often more cost-effective to replace both.
5. Gutters Are 20+ Years Old
Approaching end of lifespan. Proactive replacement avoids emergency.
6. Frequent Overflows
If 5" gutters overflow regularly, upgrade to 6" rather than constant cleaning.
7. Cracks or Splits
Aluminum fatigue from temperature cycles. Can't be permanently fixed.
Repair vs. Replace: The 50% Rule
If repair costs exceed 50% of replacement cost, replace. You'll get new gutters, proper sizing, and a full warranty instead of patching an aging system.
